DragonForce Regatta report.

We decided to run the DF annual regatta on the same day as the club Regatta to showcase the fun that can be had and were rewarded with a lot of interest and potentially a few new recruits .

You really couldn't ask for better weather, the sun was out and a gentle breeze blowing. After a bit of course changing to get a good beat and to avoid the dreaded weed that has slowly appeared with the warm temperatures, the Regatta got underway.

A reduced fleet from numbers we had been enjoying recently, with 8 competitors on the start line. This certainly didn't dilute the competitive spirit with very tense and sometimes boisterous starts. Great to see racer's completing 360 penalties when called for ( well mostly!!).

9 races completed although we thought we had done the normal 10, someone can't count! One discard was used in calculating the results.
With the changing wind strength a lot of adjustments were being made to rigs to get that extra little bit of speed.
We added onto the end of the racing a swap your boat race. This seemed a great idea and really did give a chance for racers to sail another person's boat and see how it sailed compared with their own.
Overall a fantastic Regatta with the all important drink on the balcony to watch the bigger boats finishing on the club line. Can't get much better than this.
