Gig Rowing Introduction
Whether you have rowed before or are completely new to Gig rowing you are absolutely welcome to join us for our weekly training sessions and have some fun on the water. The more the merrier!
We're a friendly group all learning together. None of us had rowed prior to January 2020 and with all the lockdowns there have been we're definitely still learning. New members have been joining us every session. So, if you enjoy being on the water and fancy trying it, come and join us. Age and ability are definitely no barrier!
We offer 2 free trial rows for you to see if you like it and then it's £5 a row. If you're not a member of MRSC, it's at this point that you would need to join the club to continue rowing. There is a ceiling limit of £60/ year, so after 12 rows the rest of the year is free.
When weather and tides allow, we will be on the water as many weekends as possible and hopefully even some weekdays and evenings in the Summer. We're definitely looking forward to a few socials too.
You can be involved as much or as little as you like, or as your time allows.
We're hoping to enter a few fun events and regattas throughout the year, aimed at all levels, including hosting our own event for local clubs here at MRSC.
For those who fancy a bit more of a challenge our ultimate aim is to get to the World Championships in the Scillies in 2022!
