Mengeham at Chichester Harbour Race Week

The 60th Anniversary of Federation Week was in the best traditions of the week a wonderful atmosphere crossing the boundaries of clubs, classes and generations. Mengeham was there in strength a couple in each of the Fast handicap and the Finns, three in the 2000s and a junior, plus an army of at least 15 volunteers.
The star was Laren Buckel in her Tera just look at her results below!! and what happened on the last day? she broke her mast when leading (not capsizing), went ashore and was generously lent a mast by HISC, led the next race, the mast broke (again without capsizing). A fantastic performance rewarded by first place.
Mark Macdonald sailing for the first time this year was third in the Finns counting a 3,3,2- especially creditable given that he was acting as his father's trolley dolly, dresser and general carer. Dan Taylor sailed his Contender in the second race, won it but sadly did not return a tooth possibly failing as a cleat. In the 2000s Hugh Stallard flattered to deceive placed third in the first race, only to be replaced at 18 th - must read the SI's Hugh! still you completed the series, well done.
A report cannot be complete without mentioning the Wednesday night quiz night, now so popular that it is "ticket only". Our resident quizmaster, Steve Mowbray, was in great form so much so that one Finn sailor from across the harbour declared "F*** Race Week I've won the quiz!"
