About training at MRSC

MRSC is an RYA registered club and also an RYA recognised teaching establishment. We run both junior and adult training courses for our members covering a range of the RYA dinghy syllabi, we are also recognised to run RYA Powerboat courses covering Safety boat, levels 1 and 2 and deliver the RYA first aid course.

For full details of this year's RYA Training programme see our calendar, however we are also adding to these plans to meet demand, so please contact us for further details.

Our dinghy training programme tends to run during April, May and June, opening the door to a busy summer of sailing for all participants and entry into the club's junior race week in August for those aged 6 to 21. Powerboat training and First Aid tends to take place during the winter.

Additionally we have a very active junior contingent at the club, and throughout the season have regular parent led training sessions. These are run on a volunteer basis so we are keen to have family member's young and old helping us out, and we do have a very friendly and active family membership base. There is a Facebook page for Juniors and their parents for you be confirm your attendance, see who else is coming, and offer support with rib cover and much more. Why not look at Junior Sailing and request to be a member?

There is also coaching sessions organised for the various junior classes sailed at the club, Feva, Tera and Laser. See details in the Calendar for dates and contact.

The club is lucky to own a number of boats that can be hired by members for a modest fee when not being used for the training sessions. There are 3 RS Teras, 3 RS Fevas, 3 Laser 2000s, A Wayfarer and an RS 400. More details can be found here(link needed).

Junior training

At MRSC you can help your kids progress into the watersports enthusiasts of the future. As an RYA Training Centre we are super focused on introducing the younger generation to sailing. We run an exciting string of RYA training courses and social events every year, as well as an extremely popular Youth Race Week to put their new skills to the test!

We have a very active junior contingent at the club, and during the summer months we have an average of 50 juniors attending our training courses.

For junior sail training our season usually starts in April/May and finishes in July culminating in our annual Junior Week providing fun and racing for all juniors from the age of 6 to 21.

Gig rowing training

We have a very active Pilot Gig rowing section. Training rows take place most weekends throughout the year and midweek too during the summer.
