MRSC RYA VHF SRC Radio Course - now just the 1 day

- 1.VHF Radios have been around for many years, whilst the basic technology and the laws of Physics do not change that much, the functionality and the capability's of the Radios and other related equipment certainly have increased.
- 2.Looking across the various ways in which we get on the water at Mengeham, from Cruisers, Dinghies, Paddle Sports, Ribs, Rowing, even Dragon Force events on the Harbour, also on shore organisers, Radios are key tools and people need to be confident in using them.
- 3.Mengeham has a good mix of new commers with little or no VHF experience and seasoned sailors who may have used a Radio for years and want a refresher session.
- 4.Mengham have 10 hand held Radios usually used on P5, a private channel which gives us a less formal environment to communicate. Other clubs use M1, M2 and the harbour master uses Channel 14. There are more powerful Radios at the Club, a base station and on Tarka, the committee boat.
- Summary to hold an introductory and/or a refresher half day, offer on line training to prepare for the VHF Exam. The first cohort will sit the exam in he afternoon. New attendees can sign up for the on-line course. There will be a 2nd day for any questions and for new students to take the Exam.
- Day 1 for the introductory day covering: Basic VHF Operation, other Radio Safety equipment, introduction to optional On Learn learning and the VHF exam.
- Self Learning- Work through the RYA VHF/SRC Syllabus on line - questions can be asked of the tutor throughout the course. This is optional.
- Day 2 (tba) to catch up with any questions and to take the 2 hour Exam (optional)

- Attendance at Day 1 on 14th February at MRSC for £10 for the half day.
- Enrolment for the On line Tuition package includes the RYA VHF/SRC course book £99 per person
- Attendance at Day 2 on TBD at MRSC for optional RYA VHF/SRC Exam £76 per person
