Session on 5th May 2007 |
|
The Club received another “pat-on-the-back” from
the Royal Yachting
Association (RYA) following its annual inspection as an RYA
Training Centre. Tom Wilson from the RYA, who visited MRSC on 5th
May during one of the Club’s regular training sessions,
inspected the training boats, equipment, facilities and record
keeping and praised all the instructors and the shore side
safety team. He said that he was extremely impressed with
everything the Club was doing. |

the training session there were 30 juniors with 7 instructors
taking part in the RYA Level 1 and 2 Sailing Course and 15
adults with 5 instructors either working towards their RYA Level
2 or taking part in the Start Racing Course. Currently there are
70 junior and 25 adult members on the Club’s RYA Training
Scheme. The Club has 24 Instructors, 5 of whom are Senior

John Barnett, Rear Commodore and the
Club’s RYA Principal, said, “MRSC is very fortunate to have such
a dedicated team of RYA instructors and helpers who are all Club
members and give their time freely to promote and encourage sail
training. We now have 18 sail training boats; Optimists,
Toppers, a Wayfarer, a 420 and a Finn along with a number of
training safety boats." |
