News from the Jeremy Strugnell Fund

Junior member, Anthony Parke, is currently ranked 4th out of 111 in the Laser 4.7 National ranking system. He has recently been selected as one of four boys to represent GB in the Laser 4.7 Worlds in San Francisco. There were two places for U17's and two for U16's and two girl,s places; the boys going were in the top four positions in the qualifiers. He was also part of a 40 strong GB team at the recent Laser 4.7 Europeans, sailing under the MRSC banner.

Mengeham Rythe Sailing Club is making a contribution towards the appreciable expenses that Anthony will incur at these events.  The money comes from the Jeremy Strugnell Fund which is administered by the President, the Vice-Presidents and the Hon Treasurer.

The purpose of the Fund is to "provide financial assistance to promising juniors or other young club members who might otherwise be impeded in their efforts to become competent sailors".

Club members are invited to make suggestions for specific uses of the Fund, in particular, for those who are starting to get on the ‘ladder’.
