Twenty six Toppers arrived at Mengeham to mark
the return of summer and were rewarded with a shifting North Westerly
wind freshening from Force 2 to Force 4.
Race 1 was keenly fought and was won by David Paul from Hamish
Streeter and Josh Stone, with four premature starters paying the
penalty for not returning. Race 2 was a clean start, and after moving
the windward mark to cope with a thirty degree shift, Josh Stone led
from Matthew Stephens and David Paul. The tide had turned for Race 3
presenting competitors with difficulties in starting and consequent
general recall. A black flag soon concentrated the minds and the fleet
had a good race in the strengthening wind with the same results as for
Race 2 giving Josh Stone 1st overall ahead of David Paul and Matthew
Stephens. |
