Hedging project
The autumn work parties have planted a new hedge around the club. [more details]


Cruiser Christmas Party
Cruiser members enjoyed a Christmas Dinner on Saturday 16th December with a very special visitor. [more details]


Annual Prize Giving & Supper
The clubhouse was packed for the Annual Prize Giving and Supper, for the dinghy and cruiser races, held on Saturday 25th November 2006,  with the "galley team" feeding  over 120 people. Rachelle Allsop presented the prizes. [more details]


Arts & Crafts Exhibition & Sale
The club held an Arts & Crafts Exhibition & Sale on Saturday 18th November in aid of the Rowans Hospice. [more details]


AGM - Sunday 5th November
Around 130 members attended the AGM on Sunday 5th November during which presentation were made to officers who were standing down. [more details]


Anthony joins the RYA squad
Congratulations to Anthony Parke who has been invited to join the RYA South Zone Training Squad for Optimists.


Trafalgar Dinner
The club held an enjoyable Trafalgar Dinner on Saturday 21st October. After the dinner, which included traditional roast beef, members read some entertaining letters from the battle.


Shrimper lift out
Eight Shrimpers, two day boats and a small yacht were pulled up the slip way for winter lay-up on Thursday 18th October

The cruisers were lifted out on Saturday 7th October.

Cruiser invitation to dinghy sailors 
MRSC ruiser owners and dinghy sailors planned a day trip across to Bembridge. The original idea was for the dinghies to be sailed across to Bembridge, accompanied by a cruiser, but a poor weather forecast changed the plans.[more details & pictures]


British Open Finn Championship 2006
MRSC hosted the 2006 British Open Finn Championship on 8th, 9th & 10th September. There were 59 entries who, over the 3 days, enjoyed good wind and weather conditions in Hayling Bay. Chichester Harbour Federation Regatta, 7th- 11th August
Around 370 boats took part in this annual regatta held in Chichester Harbour, including a good number of MRSC members. [more details]


Junior Week
The club held another successful Junior Week which started on 31st July. However, strong winds delayed the racing until the Wednesday. [more details]


Rowans Pursuit
The annual Pursuit Race held in aid of the Rowans Hospice was held on Sunday 30th July.  [more details]  


American Supper & Jazz night - Saturday 29th July
This was an enjoyable and relaxing evening with food donated by members with the entertainment from the Yacht Club Five. Thanks to everyone who helped to organise the evening.


Ladies Challenge Race
8 boats entered this annual ladies mixed handicap race held on 29th July. The course was set off Pilsey and with the blustery wind conditions there was the occasional capsize. The race was won by Ann Kent in her Comet XTRA [click on the picture to enlarge]


Two new Gulls join the fleet 
Joan Palmer and Mary West launched their new Gulls in style at the club on Wednesday 19th July. Both Mary and Joan have been sailing Gulls at MRSC for a number of years and decided that it was time to upgrade their boats. There are approx 22 Gulls at MRSC.


Open Regatta
The Club hosted its annual Open Regatta on Sunday 16th July with the predicted hot and sunny weather encouraging a high number of entries. 82 boats sailing in 10 different classes crossed the start line with the competitors enjoying courses in Chichester Harbour. [more details]


Junior Training
Despite the draw of the football on Saturday 1st July, 12 juniors preferred to be on the water and take part in another "oppie" training afternoon with the boats newly decorated with club burgees, MRSC training logos and "Jeremy Strugnell Fund"  stickers, thanks to the efforts of the Vice Commodore, Nigel Roper.
