RYA Training Day
Another successful RYA training day was held for juniors and adults on Saturday 24th June when 19 Stage 1 and 2 Stage 3 RYA Certificates were awarded.


Oppie Training Day
Fourteen juniors in 12 Optimist dinghies enjoyed another successful training day on Saturday 17th June. [more details] 


Sail Training Day
The Junior and Adult sail training day held on Saturday 10th June went very well, seriously assisted by perfect conditions and outstanding volunteer help.


New Clothing and Regalia Manager appointed
Fiona Bartlett has kindly accepted to run the Clothing and Regalia Club supplies, following the retirement from that duty of David and Sue Lord after many years of sterling service. The Committee appointed Fiona at their meeting on 25th May 2006.


Oppie Training Day
The Oppie sail training day held on Saturday 3rd June was a brilliant success, with lots of sunshine, boats and people, and, for once, a perfect breeze.


Training Day
Another successful training day was held on Saturday 27th May with  31 junior sailors taking part in a RYA training session and 8 adults taking part in race training session.


Talent Night
The social committee organised an entertaining evening on Saturday 13th May to show off the hidden talents amongst MRSC members! [more details]


Bay Race
The annual Cruiser Bay Race was held on Saturday 27th April. There were 10 entries who had to sail a short course due to the light winds. [more details]


Junior Training
Another successful RYA training day took place on 13th May with 35 children were split into three groups according to ability; a race fleet, an intermediate group and the beginners in Optimists. The Oppie Fleet was split into smaller groups, each with a qualified instructor, where they covered a variety of skills


Bembridge Cruiser Rally
The Cruiser section had an enjoyable weekend to Bembridge on the Isle of Wight on 13th/14th May 2006. Seventeen boats took part in the rally.

New Race Box
On Friday 5th May, before the start of the evening points race, the new race box was officially opened. The race box was designed and built by a number of club members, some of whom were at the opening. The design is in keeping with other  similar  buildings around the harbour and met the full approval of the Harbour Master.


Open Day
The Club held an Open Day on Bank Holiday Monday 1st May when visitors had the opportunity to look around the club's facilities and taken afloat in a variety of members boats.
 


RYA Junior Training
On Saturday 29th April 2006 58 youngsters took to the water, some for the first time, during the first of a series of RYA Sail Training Days.[picture gallery]


Boat Jumble
The Club held a boat jumble on Bank Monday 1st May when £200 was raised for the Jeremy Strugnell Fund which is used to promote junior sailing at MRSC .The Fund was set up in the early 1980s in memory of the late Jeremy Strugnell who was a member of MRSC who sadly died in January 1980.


Busy Weekend at the sailing club
The first weekend in April was particularly busy at MRSC with the cruisers lifting in and a Finn training weekend.

RYA Power Boat Course
Another successful RYA Power Boat Course was held over the weekend 11th/12th March 2006.

Wrinklies' Lunch
On Monday 6th March members of the Monday morning work parties, affectionately called the "Wrinklies", held a lunch when they put down their spades and took up their song sheets.


Burns Supper
Well over 80 people attended the annual celebration of the Scottish Bard. There was haggis, kilts, bagpipes and incomprehensible poems. An excellent time was had by all!


HBSC Award for the Barnetts
Elaine and John Barnett receiving a Havant Borough Sports Council
award for their significant contribution towards sail training at our
Club. The nomination highlights the work they did and the results
they achieved, in terms of Club instructors, numbers of people trained, and sheer fun. Well done!


"Winkle of the Harbour 2006"
The annual "Winkle of the Harbour" handicap sailing event was held on 1st January [more details]
