| Welcome to Mengeham
Rythe Sailing Club. Our club is on the east side of Hayling Island
with direct access to the sheltered waters of Chichester Harbour and
a short (15 minute) sail from the harbour entrance and the waters
of the Solent. Chichester harbour allows us excellent dinghy racing
in tidal waters, and exceptional day sailing for dinghies and cruisers.
The clubhouse has magnificent views over the harbour, and lies
on a creek which gives good protection for the number of cruiser
moorings owned by the club. We have two slipways for launching dinghies
and tenders, and a very extensive dinghy park with room for further
expansion. The creek is tidal, and launching is possible about 2
½ - 3 hours either side of high tide. The club jetty and
pontoons enable cruisers to moor alongside for limited periods.

The club enjoys a warm, friendly atmosphere and remains a members
club within the true definition. The original objectives of Mengeham
Rythe SC are to provide members of moderate means with the facilities
and opportunity to engage in all forms of sailing and boating; racing,
cruising, fishing or social sailing. All members are expected to
contribute by carrying out yearly club duties on safety boats, working
parties and bar rota.
The club runs a full programme of dinghy racing, and has a very
active programme of social sailing which is based around the Gull
fleet. There is excellent day sailing for dinghies and dayboats
within Chichester harbour. The cruiser section arranges a programme
of rallies to destinations within the Solent and further a field.
We have introduced formal RYA training for Junior members, and
this will be expanded this season leading to RYA qualifications.
Mengeham Rythe runs a Junior Sailing Week during the summer with
races over 5 days and entry open to the other clubs in the harbour.
There is also a varied Junior programme organised through the season.
The club has a full social programme, including various entertainments,
dances, formal meals, and informal barbeques. The clubhouse and
bar is open on Sundays, and on Wednesday/Friday evenings. Also Saturday
evenings during the season. Members have use of the facilities at
all times.
