2007 ANNUAL PRIZE GIVING & SUPPER

Mengeham Rythe Sailing Club held its own Sports Personalities of the Year award ceremony when the Season’s Champions, Graeme Macdonald (Fast Handicap Class Champion), Imogen Barnett (Junior Champion) and Paddy Lamperd (Slow Handicap Class Champion) joined other trophy winners and club members at the Annual Prize Giving on Saturday 24th November.

 
At the start of the evening the achievements of the junior club members were recognised. Forty nine young sailors, who have been taking part in club training sessions throughout the year were presented with their RYA certificates . Junior trophies were also made to Imogen Barnett, Karen Barton, Becky Brunton, Robbie Collison, Chris Hughes, Peter Mowbray, Abigail Reynolds and Jack Watts. Sophia Lewis received the “Junior ¼ Pint” for the youngest person to take part in club racing.
 
The Finn and Solo Fleet sailors were the prominent prize winners. Graeme Macdonald, sailing a Finn, became Fast Handicap Champion for the third year running and also received the prize for the most races sailed during the season. Paddy Lamperd, sailing a Solo, became the Slow Handicap Champion and also received a special award for his part in developing the Solo Fleet at the Club. Imogen Barnett received the Junior Champion’s Trophy.

John Tremlett received the Cleeve Cup, Tenancity Cup, Evening Points Trophy, MJF Trophy and trophies for first in the Spring Mini Series and Spring Points

Tour Ala and family, including the dog, received the Ron Panting Trophy and a tin of dog food for first in the Cruiser Bay Race.
