OPEN REGATTA -
SUNDAY 15th JULY 2007
|
|
MENGEHAM
Rythe Sailing Club ran another successful open regatta in Chichester
Harbour on Sunday 15th July 2007 and despite a weather
forecast of thundery showers the event was well supported by a number
of clubs in the harbour with 84 entries. The largest fleet single
class entry was the Solos with 14 starters followed by a fleet of 10
Finns. With a steady breeze the Race Officer, Rachelle Allsop, who
also presented the prizes, set a long course in the harbour for the 9
separate fleets and only needed to shorten the course for the slow
handicap event. A club finish line provided some exciting viewing for
the spectators now sheltering in the club when the predicted
thunderstorm and showers arrived, fortunately towards the end of the
races.
