OPEN REGATTA -  SUNDAY 16TH JULY 2006

Mengeham Rythe Sailing Club hosted its annual Open Regatta on Sunday 16th July with the predicted hot and sunny weather encouraging a high number of entries. 82 boats sailing in 10 different classes crossed the start line with the competitors enjoying courses in Chichester Harbour which took advantage of the favourable afternoon tides and a steady but light southerly onshore breeze. The event was well supported by a number of sailing clubs in Chichester Harbour along with a few visitors from Burghfield SC and Wembley SC. The Solo Class had the highest number of entries with 16. Spectators were able to watch some competitive sailing as the boats came up Mengeham Rythe Creek to cross the finish line just outside the clubhouse. The race organisers were complimented on the smooth running of the event, and the excellent afternoon tea, prepared and served by MRSC members, was enjoyed by all.
